Technics will release two new models of completely wireless earphones, "EAH-AZ60" and "EAH-AZ40", on October 15th. The price is an open price. The estimated retail price is around 29,000 yen for the EAH-AZ60, which has a noise canceling (NC) function and is compatible with LDAC, and around 16,000 yen for the compact and low-priced EAH-AZ40, which does not have NC.
As for the color variation, AZ60 is black and silver. In addition to black and silver, AZ40 also has a lineup of rose gold.
"EAH-AZ40" has a lineup of rose gold in addition to black and silverAs a feature common to both models, it is equipped with an "acoustic control chamber" that precisely controls the air flow of the driver by providing a space and adjustment pores at the rear end of the driver. It improves the mid-slack in the mid range and the elongation in the low range.
Furthermore, by optimizing the shape of the space in front of the driver, it also has a "harmonizer" that improves high-frequency characteristics. In the AZ40, this acoustic control chamber and harmonizer are integrated with the driver, which contributes to the miniaturization of earphones. Since the AZ40 has a smaller driver diameter than the AZ60, the chamber room and parts are also smaller, and variations in volume and accuracy cannot be ignored, so it is said to have been integrated as a module.
Both models are equipped with dynamic drivers. The material and caliber are different, AZ60 uses an 8mm biocellulose diaphragm, and AZ40 uses a 6mm PEEK diaphragm.
The bio-cellulose diaphragm can reproduce a wide band with a margin, and it is possible to reproduce natural vocals and musical instruments, and to reproduce tight bass. The PEEK diaphragm reproduces clear sound with no sense of emphasis or insufficiency in all bands despite its small diameter. It is said that it is possible to reproduce a full-fledged sound with a sense of range and thickness.
The high-end model "AZ70W" that has already been released has a large diameter of 10 mm, and while using PEEK material for the diaphragm, it is coated with graphene to achieve both lightness and strength. The AZ60 is an 8mm bio-cellulose diaphragm, because if it has an 8mm caliber, sufficient strength can be obtained even with bio-cellulose. It is said that bio-cellulose was adopted, sticking to the straightforward sound as a material.
Bluetooth profile supports A2DP, AVRCP, HSP, HFP. As for the codec, AZ60 supports SBC, AAC, and LDAC. AX40 is only compatible with SBC and AAC.
