Testimony from Fukushima (first half)

[Yuya Kamoshita] (June 24, 2014 /45 years old)

Yuya Kamoshita, a teacher at Fukushima National College of Technology in Iwaki City, evacuated to Tokyo with his wife and two sons immediately after the nuclear accident. However, the school decided to resume classes, and Mr. Kamoshita returned to Iwaki City.Mr. Kamoshita, who complains of the danger of radiation, is isolated in the school.I was exhausted by both stressful workplaces, weekly my life, my family in Tokyo. The wife, who was thin and lost his hair, and his wife, who had lost his hair on a highway, begging his wife, "I just want to live. I quit my job!"A year and a half later, Kamoshita quit his job and joined a family in Tokyo.

[Evacuation]

At the time of the nuclear accident, two children and a couple lived in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. It was an emerging residential area, but the nature was rich and the mountains were close, and the night stars were beautiful.

It is about 40 km from the first nuclear power plant. He was a teacher at Fukushima National College of Technology (Fukushima Technical College).I was surprised that there was such a good place even though it was not so far away from Tokyo.

(Q. For children, did you leave your friends?)

I didn't know what was shocked by the two children, but when I evacuated, the eldest son, who was a second -year elementary school student, seemed to have the feeling that "ridiculous things are happening."。We did not leave the house after the nuclear power plant exploded, but left a messy road immediately after the earthquake."I may not be able to get along. It may be a wild inn. In the worst case, I may have to go back."

(Q ・ When you first came to Iwaki City, did you have a consciousness of being close to the nuclear power plant?)

I was aware that it was a nuclear location. If you go to the north of Iwaki City, you are lined up with the first and second, and you can go inside by tour.Training and tours are always available in elementary and junior high schools.I was able to study, and I had a good meal and was good.TEPCO was an important destination for factory training even in college of technology. After going to the nuclear power plant, he studied positive aspects, such as "How much the nuclear power plant is safe", returned to school, and announced that "we are considering this safety."。

(Q ・ Did you find a job for college graduates?)

Rather than nuclear power, TEPCO was a job. When I entered TEPCO from Fukushima, there were quite a few cases of going to nuclear power.Students in my lab also entered TEPCO.For several years before the accident, he was hired considerably. When there were more than a dozen people who would like to find a job, there was a year in which two people would take two.TEPCO has not many people from the same school. Moreover, two people were hired from our department. In recent years, it has been particularly large.Probably expected to increase the nuclear power plant.

(Q. Did you have the atmosphere of "thanks to TEPCO -san"?)

Iwaki City is the largest industrial city in Tohoku, not "relying on the nuclear power plant," but it is certain that TEPCO's name value and trust were the best in Tohoku.

["The nuclear power plant is broken!"]

(What was the situation in Q, 3 and 11?)

I was in the middle of a graduation and advancement conference at school. An earthquake occurred when the story was over. With a long shaking, the desk shook, and the roofing material was ragged.

The first thing I was worried about was the nuclear power plant. If this is so shaking, the piping broke somewhere

I was worried that I was there.

(Q ・ Have you ever knew the nuclear power plant?)

I'm not a specialty, but as a science person, I think, "I can't do anything that doesn't break. There is no one who doesn't make an investigation."I thought it would be impossible.I always thought that the nuclear power plant should not be used, because if an accident happened, it would be ridiculous.

However, an engineering colleague said, "Even so, it doesn't break so easily because I'm so protected."

(Q ・ How did it work after the earthquake?)

When I was shaking, I was wondering if the nuclear power plant was moving. At least one or more should be moving.I thought that if the earthquake did not stop, it would be a crisis within a few dozens of minutes, so I stopped and prayed for a control stick. The family was probably not going to the seaside, so I wasn't worried about the damage to the tsunami, but the anxiety that the nuclear power plant was broken was real.

On the way home from sending my son's friend to the house by car, on the radio, an announcement on the radio saying, "There is no radioactive leak at the first and second nuclear power plants, but just cover your nose and mouth with a cloth just in case."When I heard, I realized, "Oh, this is not to cool the reactor properly."It was past 10 pm.

There is no electricity, no gas.The house was all -electrified, so it was very cold two times below freezing.I couldn't leave my old father in the house in that state.

So I decided to leave the house. However, the road was destroyed by the earthquake and was in a terrible state. No matter how you think, you can't escape to the north, and you can't escape from the nuclear power plant even if you go west. The road to the south was in a terrible state, so I had no choice but to cross the mountain.

ニュース 福島からの証言・9(前半)

Early in the morning on the next day, I waited until it became bright and left home.I knew that the nuclear power plant was abnormal.

(Q ・ How did you know that? Is it information from the radio?)

There was no additional information from the radio. Most mobile phones are useless. The net connection was better than a mobile phone call.

By car, I went from Route 49 to Shirakawa City and went to Route 4.I arrived at Hodogaya in Yokohama, my father's parents' house, in the early morning of the 13th.

After hearing that the nuclear power plant had exploded, I bought "isodine" as a iodine agent during the movement to protect the children's thyroids from radiation. It was painful to drink as it is, so when you drink it with vitamin C, it tasted much mild.

After that, I moved from Hodogaya in Yokohama to my parents 'home in Tokyo and rented an apartment near my parents' house. His son moved to a nearby elementary school.

[Decision to quit school]

On the other hand, at my workplace Fukushima National College of Technology, a meeting was held in early April to resume school.Water supply and electricity have been restored, and some of the school buildings have become "evacuation centers", but they seemed to be able to use it as a school. So I was alone and returned to the house in Iwaki City.

At the school meeting, I said, "I shouldn't resume. The air dose is definitely polluted than the standard of the" radiation control area ", and there are radioactive iodine. You should wait until about 80 days, which is about one of the minutes. "However, the school side decided that the Ministry of Education said that it was safe, so let's stop discussing "safe or dangerous", and eventually decided to resume after the consecutive holidays in May.

After that, for a month, I went back and forth between Tokyo, where my family was evacuating and Iwaki City.If you think about it now, I think that there was a lot of radioactive iodine during that period, and I sucked quite a bit.Cesium is still detected from the mask used at that time.

(Q ・ What made you quit school?)

There are many reasons to quit, but one of them is that you have worsened your physical condition.I don't know if it's related to radioactivity. It is true that stress other than radiation was quite large. The student died in the dormitory in charge, and sometimes rolled over on a highway. There was an accident that the tires bursted (note -the tires of the car were suddenly damaged while driving).

In the first place, I thought that it was not good for my family to live away, and there was a reality that there was a lot of radiation in June.

I was studying for delicious vegetables at a college of technology, but of course I was thinking about safe, safe and delicious vegetables. However, its safety and security were no longer possible.

Because it is hydroponic cultivation, I hoped that the device was completely washed and decontaminated, and if the rooftop was decontaminated neatly, I would like to produce vegetables that are not contaminated by cesium.

However, in winter, cesium dries and soares in the air.In addition, it drops directly from the nuclear power plant in the north wind.In winter, a considerable cesium comes down from the sky, so I realized that I couldn't make cesium -free vegetables unless I worked in the building. If you wash it so much, you will be able to get vegetables that are not detected in summer and autumn, but it was shocking to me that it could not be collected throughout the year.Even if the rooftop is decontaminated, it will return to its original state in a year. The soil is tens of thousands of kilometers / kg becquerels, which is a radiation waste level.I thought it wasn't a safe food.

[I hope you can live]

(Q. When did you decide to quit college?)

It is the winter of the year when the nuclear accident occurred.I was sick and I was worried about research and work.

Every time I come back, I lose weight and get rid of it.The skin was getting rough, the skin became older, and my hair was about half.As I saw, I was worried that this person would be useless.

Anyway, I thought, "I wish I could live."She wanted to be alive. My husband's workplace is a lifetime employment and is treated as a civil servant, so if I worked, I would have had a good economic problem with my family, but I thought I had to be alive even if I abandoned it.

Even in the case of a car accident, I was carried by a tow truck, and my husband went to the first hour class at school, but I didn't know anything.Once again, I was transported by ambulance, but my school teacher called me and said, "Can I return my husband to Iwaki's house?"My husband was in Fukushima and I was in a position to protect the children in Tokyo.I can't do anything.Until my husband came back here, I didn't drink any alcohol.I thought I shouldn't get drunk to drive to the site by car.I was so stiff like that.

(Q. Did you notice that?)

When I washed my hair in the bath, I felt that my hair was getting lost a lot.I knew that it was stressful, but I didn't know if that was the only thing. There should have been radioactivity and exposed, but at the same time, there was a feeling that "let's recover Fukushima", "Let's do our best", "do not lose radioactivity".

When I returned to Iwaki in early April, Shunichi Yamashita and Professor of Nagasaki University (at that time) said in Iwaki City and various places, saying, "Up to 100 mm" or "Children should play outside".It was washed away many times on the radio. As a result, the "Safety Propaganda" was repeated repeatedly. In addition, an announcer of "FM Iwaki" is a narration saying, "It is a heart that fears radioactivity that hinders the reconstruction of Iwaki City.

When I pointed out the dangers of radiation in such an area, I continued to feel the pressure of schools and outside the school and outside. But I didn't think it was safe, so I couldn't bend the theory.Even if it was unacceptable, he continued to claim that it was not safe as a scientific fact, but rather dangerous.

About 10 % of the school asserted the danger and opposed the school resuming.I felt like I was a little nervous teacher.(Continue)
