■ Real-time information collection is essential to realize an autonomous driving environment. Such automated driving requires a more precise and real-time grasp of road traffic information. In this paper, in order to introduce and popularize autonomous driving, it is necessary to provide driving support according to road conditions such as merging and avoiding sag traffic jams, and for this purpose, it is essential to provide information from roadside infrastructure in addition to in-vehicle cameras and sensors. It is introduced that real-time information collection is necessary. ITS Connect has the potential to become a "new information gathering infrastructure". ITS Connect is a service that provides safe driving support information to vehicles equipped with ITS Connect in-vehicle equipment by communication. It is characterized by easy connection because it uses a band, and information such as location information and speed is transmitted every 100 ms from vehicles equipped with ITS Connect. A demonstration experiment will be conducted from 2020 to 2021 to observe and collect vehicle data using ITS Connect and confirm whether road traffic information required for automated driving support can be obtained in real time. It was shown that it can be used as a new information gathering infrastructure. In this demonstration experiment, a test vehicle equipped with an ITS Connect receiver is parked in a parking area on a highway or a parking lot near the highway, and data transmitted from the ITS Connect-equipped vehicle running on the highway is acquired. It was held in a total of 15 locations, including the Metropolitan Expressway and Tomei Expressway.
In the demonstration experiment, we calculated the possible communication distance from the position of each vehicle for transmission and reception of ITS Connect. For example, in an urban environment such as the Metropolitan Expressway where there are high-rise buildings in the vicinity, an average communication range of 100 to 200m was confirmed, and in a suburban environment such as the Tomei Expressway, an average communication range of 500 to 600m was confirmed. In addition, we also measured the collection of information on changes in vehicle speed, and confirmed that data could be obtained approximately every 0.25m. As a result, ITS Connect wireless technology (1) can secure a communication distance of up to about 600m (2) can grasp changes in vehicle speed in almost real time, etc., enabling the acquisition of more precise road traffic information and the occurrence of traffic accidents and falling objects. It became clear that it could become a new information gathering infrastructure, such as contributing to the detection of sudden events such as. In the future, we will compare and verify information collected from existing probe data, etc., and consider new possibilities for ITS Connect. In this demonstration experiment, it was demonstrated that high-resolution vehicle data can be collected in real time by using ITS Connect, so it is expected that it will be possible to generate more detailed road traffic information. The provision of road traffic information from the roadside infrastructure is essential for safe and smooth autonomous driving. It is expected that it can be evolved like It was clarified that ITS Connect can contribute to the construction of a safe autonomous driving society as a new information gathering tool, such as constantly gathering fresh road traffic information. *Vehicle data collected in this demonstration experiment does not include information that can identify individuals. In addition, regarding the handling of personal information, the ITS Connect Promotion Council will ensure that the latest laws and regulations regarding the protection of personal information are provided to the principals of activities in activities such as experiments conducted by members and persons in accordance with the provisions of this council. We are fully aware of the need to comply. Aiming for a traffic society where everyone is happy and comfortable The ITS Connect Promotion Council contributes to the practical application of the world's first safe driving support system, ITS Connect, which utilizes communications, toward a safe and secure traffic society. Doing. Going forward, as one of the social infrastructures that contributes to improving the traffic environment to reduce traffic accidents, we will continue to make all-Japan efforts that transcend the boundaries of industries and companies, aiming to build and spread better systems. .
