Click here for detailsOn the 14th, NEC announced that it has started an initiative aimed at advancing the health management of dogs undergoing training as guide dogs using activity meters and artificial intelligence (AI). We will work with the Japan Veterinary Medical Center, a veterinary hospital that provides highly advanced medical care for dogs and cats, the Kansai Guide Dog Association, and the Kyoto Veterinary Medical Association.
Specifically, a guide dog candidate who entered the training center is equipped with a collar with an activity meter "PLUS CYCLE" for dogs and cats developed by the Japan Advanced Animal Medical Center. During the initial training period of six weeks, data such as the amount of activity, the number of jumps, and sleep time are collected with an activity meter.
When entering the training center, data such as health checkups conducted by the Kyoto Veterinary Medical Association and daily observation data by trainers are also collected. Along with the data from the activity meter, NEC's AI technology group "NEC the WISE" can be used to analyze health management from various perspectives, such as stress checks, changes in exercise volume and personality, and predictions of health conditions. I will make it possible.
In the future, we will look to improve the training process of guide dogs based on the collected information on training and health management. We would like to promote AI-based health management not only during the initial training period but also after becoming a guide dog, and to improve the well-being (happiness and health) of guide dogs and guide dog users.
