On February 16, 2022, Nissan held a "press release event on new initiatives to popularize Nissan's EV". We delivered online through YouTube.
The EVsmart blog editorial department learned about this presentation on February 14th through the transmission of the official Nissan Motor Count on Twitter. With the delivery of the new electric vehicle "ARIYA" in full swing just around the corner, "Is it possible to install a CHAdeMO standard maximum 150kW output quick charger on the highway SAPA?" For the announcement of the light vehicle EV, "Present an epoch-making light EV subscription plan!" I had a lot of imagination, but it wasn't such an announcement.
Announced is the start of the joint project "GREEN PASS powered by NISSAN" between Nissan and NEXCO Central Japan. What kind of project is it? I will list the contents.
[Implementation period] February 17th (Thursday) to March 16th (Wednesday), 2022
[Details] ● Opened "GREEN LOUNGE", a rest facility exclusively for EV owners, on the down line of the Tomei Expressway Ebina Service Area (SA).・ Cardboard furniture is installed in the lounge.・ Prepare a "chair that can be charged comfortably".・ Smartphones can be charged by supplying power from the Nissan Leaf.・ Free service of "GREEN LOUNGE BURGER" made from endangered ingredients.・ A free pairing drink that combines ginger ale and roasted green tea, which is perfect for burgers. ● Offering "GREEN COUPON" where you can get benefits at 21 stores, Ebina SA (bottom), Atsugi PA (inside and outside), and Ashigara SA (top and bottom).
This project is sponsored by Nissan, but it will be offered to all EV owners, not limited to Nissan models, "to help EV owners who contribute to decarbonization have a richer time." Since it is OK if you "present the EV dedicated application of each manufacturer", there is no need to perform quick charging at each facility, and it seems that it is okay if you have two EVs and an engine car.
The coupon benefits include "If you order soba or udon, you will receive a mini bowl!" At a SAPA restaurant.
What are "endangered ingredients"? I thought, but looking at the photos released, the ingredients used in the burger are "beef, tomatoes, lettuce, apples, celery roots, flour / corn" and so on. The message was that these ordinary ingredients are likely to be at stake, such as reduced yields and quality due to climate change.
At the recital, Mr. Yasuhisa Masuda, Division General Manager, Japan Marketing Headquarters, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. explained the outline of "GREEN PASS". Through the Blue Switch activity, which works to solve regional issues through the spread of EVs, it is appealing that the number of collaborative partners such as local governments has exceeded 150, and that we are promoting the secondary use of EV batteries together with 4R Energy. I explained that this project was born from the desire to give something back to the owner who chose EV because Nissan is a pioneer in the spread of EVs.
In addition, Mr. Hiromichi Miyake, President and CEO of Central Nippon Exis Co., Ltd., which manages and operates 156 SAPA locations in the jurisdiction of the NEXCO Central Japan Group, will be on stage. For the NEXCO Central Japan Group, which supports the SDGs, controlling global warming is a priority theme of CSR, and we are also working on the development of quick charging facilities. He emphasized that the Ebina SA Down Line is one of the largest facilities in Japan for the spread of EVs that promotes the realization of a carbon-free society, and "I am pleased to be able to contribute to the promotion of EV spread."
In a talk with actress Yuka Kuroya, we introduced that Nissan's Masuda will offer a special burger as a "thank you to EV owners" for free. It seems that the service will be provided free of charge to passengers, so EV owners should enjoy the special burger supervised by Mr. Toba, the owner chef of the Michelin one-star restaurant "sio". ..
How many EV owners will say "Like" when they hear this announcement, or ICE car owners who think "I will switch to EV myself"? I myself am the owner of the Nissan LEAF, but my honest first impression was, "Is that so? Nissan-san."
I'm grateful for the return of gratitude to the EV owners, and I think it's a suggestion for the discovery that ordinary ingredients are "endangered ingredients".
First of all, it is sad that it was not good news that we made a collaborative project with NEXCO Central Japan, such as adding quick chargers and increasing output. My reef only supports up to 50kW, but e + can be quickly charged at about 70kW and the upcoming aria can be charged up to 130kW. However, Ebina SA has only one 90kW device for each of the upper and lower lines, and the owner who bought a large piece of aria can enjoy the benefits of high output with a long drive using the highway. The current situation is difficult.
If the manufacturer, Nissan, takes the lead, we will cover the 150kW equipment, which has a realistic high output for the time being, on the highway network in order to increase the number of EVs that support high output in the future! I wanted an announcement like that ... Also, if the announcement involves NEXCO Central Japan, the new 6-port e-Mobility Power unit that was previously opened at Daikoku PA on the Metropolitan Expressway will be installed in all SAs under its jurisdiction! If it was such an announcement, I would have raised my hands and gave a compliment.
In the first place, it is a project for EV owners, but are there any EV owners or readers of this article who feel that "when you charge quickly on the highway SAPA, you will have trouble with a resting place"? At least I have never felt it. I reiterate that what is really important for the spread of EVs, and what EV owners are happy about, is "hurrying to install multiple high-power quick chargers on the highway SAPA."
I wouldn't refuse if I could get it for free, but I'm sure there aren't many EV owners who feel that they can get a coupon and get a good deal. In the first place, the merit of riding an EV is that it feels good to run on electricity alone, and that it is a straightforward decarbonization action that can contribute as an individual, and that incentives like those attached are prepared. I'm not so happy with my own feeling. In an attempt to expand EV with "privileges," I thought that Nissan learned lessons from the fact that "ZESP2" of "Travel Hodai" reached its limit.
It seems that many of the owners (reserve forces) who are waiting for the delivery of Aria felt that "a high-power quick charging network is better than that" when they heard this announcement. I also feel it.
Well, it's a limited-time event for about a month, and is it a promotion plan that coincides with the start of delivery of arias? If you think about it, it's not a topic of rattling from the outside. The impression is that I'm not sure who is thinking for whom and spending money on the project. Since the announcement was titled "Toward the spread of EVs," the gap with expectations for Nissan was too large, and I inadvertently wrote a breaking news article.
Good luck, Nissan. We are expecting the appearance of attractive new EVs and the announcement of rational services that will dramatically promote the spread of EVs.
